Max Heart Rate?

Today’s workout was:

  • 6x4 Bench Press @ 225# + 6x4 Barbell Bent Row @135#

  • 6x4 Standing BB Press @ 145# + 6x5 Weighted Pull Ups

  • Accessories:

    • 3x21 3-position DB Shoulder (Lateral Fly, Front Raise, Bent Fly)

    • 3x12 EZ Bar Tricep Ext + 3x12 DB Bicep Curl

  • 35 min Run

Left shoulder pinch was significant for the bench press. It took me a while to warm up and even then, I had to drop from 225 to 185 on the final set ease the pressure on the shoulder. It’s really too bad since without the nagging injury, I could’ve pushed for 245-250#.

I attempted to run on True Form today. I say “attempt” because my heart rate was off the chart according to Whoop:

Obviously, I was confused because my breathing was controlled, but I was definitely sweating like a waterfall from the get-go. I couldn’t quite tell what my bpm “felt” like because I was trying to measure it while running (if I stopped running for a second, True Form would reset its distance and time stats. And honestly I didn’t want to have to restart the running).

Alternatively, my Garmin thought that I was doing okay.

Fearing that I didn’t want to have a heart attack, I decided to pace myself - ran for a minute and then walked for a minute.

In the end, trying to run 35 mins on True Form was more difficult than just running. My calves and hamstrings were working overtime and at 25 minutes mark, I decided to call it quits before I injured myself.
